The majority of the events in Thailand has always associated with Buddhism, the Royal Family, and the tradition. There are many nationwide events about Buddhism as Thailand is considered a major Buddhism country.
However, there are also local traditions which are being observed only in Korat as follows:

Around the city hall area.

[ Outline ]
An opening area and the roads in front of the city hall are used for this fair.
Various types of mini shops and numerous food stalls.
A little amusement park lays down in the opened space because of children can enjoy this festival too.

A special stage is placed on the opened space and performs various show everyday.

Around the city hall area.

[ Outline ]
About 170 years over ago, Korat city was invaded by the Laotian army.
However, Thao Suranaree ( Khun Ying Mo ) bravely led the people to fight against the invaders.
This fair is held to celebrate Khun Ying Mo's victory over the enemy.
Officials and the people of Nakhon Ratchasima jointly organize this fair on a grand scale each year.

Every part of the country.

[ Outline ]
April 13 is A Thai New Year according to the lunar calendar in Thailand.
Thai Government encourages to preserve the Thai original culture.
Both public and private sectors agree to have a 3-days holiday for this event.
It is not strange to make a holiday for a whole week as the Golden Week in Japan.

Every Thai peoples enjoying sprinkle water at each other for this three days.
If you come to Thailand during this holiday, you will be amaze and enjoy the "water war".
Many foreigners joyfully participate in this events too.

"Hea Tien Pansaa" a literal translation is "A parade of a wax candle to offer to temple."
Korat people puts on Thai traditional dress and makes a parade.
And each temple prepares a trailer that loads large candles and people, so they join this parade.

Phimai Historical Park and Chakarat River

[ Outline ]
Phimai city was an ancient Khmer community.
Phimai has a river in the city area.
Therefore, a boat is indispensable transportation for Phimai people.
The Phimai people still preserve some of their original culture till today.
That is the boat racing.
Thai traditional boat, which beautifully decorated, races in Chakarat River each year.
